The Four Pillars: A Blueprint to Course-Correct London

Kirsten Krose for Mayor of London

For too long, London has been a city of "wait and see." We see a lot of reports being asked for and a lot of studies being done, but we aren't seeing the results on our doorsteps or our streets.

I’m running for Mayor because I do not like the direction London is going. I believe leadership means taking risks on decisions to move our city forward, rather than hiding behind bureaucracy. My campaign is built on four core pillars—a "north star" to ensure that every decision made at City Hall serves you, the resident.

As long as our work aligns with these four goals, London will thrive.

1. A City Where Traffic Moves
Nothing impacts your quality of life more than the time you spend stuck in gridlock. Whether you are commuting to work, dropping kids off at school, or running a business, you deserve a city that prioritizes flow.
  • The Goal: Smart construction coordination and infrastructure that anticipates growth rather than reacting to it.
  • The Vision: Moving traffic isn't just about cars; it’s about respect for your time.
2. A City Where People Feel Safe
When I grew up here, London was clean and safe. Today, it’s hard to recognize parts of our own home. You shouldn’t have to worry about needles in parks or feeling uneasy walking downtown.
  • The Goal: We will address the root causes of the crisis on our streets while ensuring that public spaces remain clean, safe, and accessible for everyone.
  • The Vision: A city where every neighborhood feels like a sanctuary for the families who live there.
3. A City That Works
"Analysis paralysis" is the enemy of progress. I am tired of seeing clear problems met with endless requests for more data.
  • The Goal: A streamlined City Hall that values action over bureaucracy. We need to be a city that can say "yes" to innovation and "no" to wasteful delays.
  • The Vision: If a project or policy doesn't move the needle for Londoners, we shouldn't be doing it. Decisive leadership starts with doing the work, not just studying it.
4. A City Where Taxpayers Are Respected
You work hard for your paycheck, and you should be able to trust that your city is spending your money wisely. High taxes and declining services are a sign of a city that has lost its way.
  • The Goal: Fiscal discipline and transparency. Every dollar spent at City Hall must be justified by the value it provides to the people who paid it.
  • The Vision: Respecting the taxpayer means being a good steward of London’s future, ensuring we are affordable today and sustainable tomorrow.

The Path Forward

These aren't just slogans; they are the benchmarks for success. If a policy doesn’t help traffic move, make people safer, improve city efficiency, or respect the taxpayer, it doesn't belong in my administration.

I am stepping up to course-correct London. It’s time to stop studying the problems and start being the solution. Let’s get London back to being the clean, safe, and vibrant city we all know it can be.
