Building Bridges: Bringing Global Opportunity Home to London

Kirsten Krose for Mayor of London

London’s success depends on our ability to look outward. We are a key player in the North American economy, but to capitalize on that, we need a Mayor who is connected and ready to advocate for our city on both sides of the border.

This past week, I had the absolute pleasure of being a guest in the City of Romulus and the City of Lansing, Michigan, thanks to my friend Representative Joe Tate. My time there wasn't just a visit; it was a mission to see how we can better position London for the massive opportunities on the horizon

Central to those opportunities is the new Gordie Howe International Bridge. This bridge is more than just steel and concrete—it is a massive economic engine. But if we want London to benefit from it, we need to ensure our city is ready to handle the growth in a way that aligns with our core vision:

Moving Traffic & Goods:

The Gordie Howe Bridge will change the flow of commerce in Ontario. London must ensure our local infrastructure is ready so that increased trade means more jobs for us, not more gridlock on our roads.

Growth That Respects Taxpayers:

By building strong relationships with our neighbors in Michigan, we can attract new American investment into London. This grows our tax base, bringing in revenue from industry so the burden doesn't fall solely on the shoulders of local homeowners.

A City That Works (Internationally):

We shouldn't have to reinvent the wheel. By staying connected with leaders in cities like Lansing and Romulus, we can share best practices on everything from urban safety to efficient city management.

I want a London that is safe, clean, and efficient. But I also want a London that is ambitious. By building these cross-border connections, we aren't just making friends—we are bringing home the opportunities that will fund a safer, more mobile, and more affordable city for everyone.

It’s time for a Mayor who builds bridges. Let's get London moving again.
